Goddess – Demon – First Woman
A theatrical bellydance production

Come with Lilith as she flies through the ages…

From her beginnings as handmaiden to the Great Goddess, initiating men into Her mysteries through sacred eros, to her appearance as First Woman in the Garden of Eden.

She has since been called Blood Sucker, Harlot, Seductress, Impure Female, Alien Woman Witch, Hag, Vixen, Strangleress, Enchantress, End of All Flesh, End of Day, Flame of the Revolving Sword. Her dark powers have grown over the millennia in which she has been worshipped and demonized, adored and feared. She is the force of nature and the supernatural in all women.

Exiled from her home in the Tree of Life, and from the Garden of Paradise, she battles with angels and Falls from Grace.

Queen of Demons, she is the Winged One and Torturous Serpent, taking life through her strange and dark seduction; cast out, banished to the desolate wilderness, her home the Red Sea. Overwhelming in her nocturnal power, She demands nothing less than her full pleasure. Saintly and satanic, “the soul of every living creature that creepeth”, she perhaps, too, can offer redemption…

For, once upon a time, in the days when the Great Goddess was still revered, Lilith, nature spirit and soul of women, was called simply “The Beautiful Maiden”…

So begins The Book of Lilith.

I am home from France after teaching and performing at Festival BellyFusions. Julie De St Blanquat and friends put on a fantastic event! What a great group of artists! And my workshop students were wonderful - couldn’t have asked for a better group. While in Paris, I made spiritual and artistic pilgrimages to Notre Dame, the Catacombs, Cimetière du Père-Lachaise and Cimetière du Montparnasse. Paris is a beautiful city, and the food was amazing!

Back here in the New England winter, life is beginning to stir beneath the Snow Queen’s icy dominion. The plants in my windows are starting to sprout new leaves - proof that the light is returning despite the cold. 

Nonetheless, I still have some darkness I’d like to serve up in the coming weeks:

This November, the occurrence of Friday the 13th falls within the Dark of the Moon, a perfect occasion to connect to the Dark Feminine within us! On this auspicious night during the Season of the Witch, Aepril Schaile “An American Priestess of the Dark Goddess” will take you on a deeply profound Underworld journey using bellydance, story, and myth. Through moving meditation, improvisation, and choreography, we will express the powers of the sacred Dark Feminine archetypes. Experience Medusa, Kali, Hecate, Circe, Persephone, Lilith; the ‘Witch’ energy within you; and the ability to shape-shift. You will come away with a fresh sense of authenticity, power, and grace in your dance, and a connection to ancient & timeless energies. This workshop is for beginner through advanced dancers, and is not so much about technique as it is about the journey we will share. After the workshop, stay for our guided Dark Moon ritual, where participants will dance the mysteries of the Dark Goddess. Ritual is for dancers and non-dancers alike; all are welcome.
